The Stand Up For Pits Foundation is happy to share that we recently provided a $1000 grant to Poverty Poverty’s Pets in Arizona to help with their facility. To learn more about how our grant is being used and Poverty Pets read below!

With utmost gratitude to the Stand Up for Pits Foundation (SUFP), Poverty’s Pets is excited to announce that it will be doubling the amount of usable yard space at its rescue house! This rescue house was renovated to accommodate many dogs (mostly pits and/or pit-mixes) and is rented out to a responsible tenant free of cost–in turn, the tenant is tasked with caring for the dogs of the house—a unique, yet effective approach to housing dogs in an already over-saturated foster network!

Due to city ordinance, fences in the front yard of Phoenix residences are limited to three and a half feet, a height that is way too low for the agile pit and pit-mixes of the house! And after taking great care to rescue pups from the low-income neighborhoods, Poverty’s Pets wants to ensure their pups remain safe until they find their fur-ever homes! And this is where SUFP’s comes in…

Thanks to SUFP’s support, Poverty’s Pets will be installing a “coyote fence”, so any dog who tries to scale the wall into or out of the property simply falls on their bum on the appropriate side of the fence and goes about their day! The result: all Poverty’s Pets rescues are safe, and will have more opportunity for exercise!

A BIG “thank you!” to SUFP for supporting the dogs of Poverty’s Pets rescue house!

And why did SUFPs choose to support Poverty’s Pets? Poverty’s Pets is a small, volunteer-run organization that goes into the ghettos of Phoenix and not only does rescue work, but also offers free spay and neuter clinics in the area, along with free medical care for pets in need. Why? Because the reality is, is there is no way to rescue our way out of animal over-population! Spay/neuter is KEY to solving the animal over-population epidemic!

Poverty’s Pets would like to extend heartfelt thanks to SUFPs and ALL who are involved with animal rescue, advocacy and welfare!”-Rachel
